Chicago born and raised, Miko Rashon is a Los Angeles-based artist combining his lyrical visual storytelling with a musical palette of Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Funk. He is an ambassador of feel-good music, cultural awareness, and cutting edge art and fashion.

He has a passion for cultural equality and uses music and the arts as a springboard to create dialogue to get a better understanding of what connects us more than separates us as humans. He also has a great sense of humor and looks for opportunities to incorporate wit and cleverness into his music and performances. He is a food label reading vegetarian/vegan and the only one in his family and most of his friends which makes gatherings with soul food, processed, and other high sodium and sugar foods quite interesting (he typically eats beforehand just in case).

 

As founder, band leader, and a lead singer with the Indie Soul band Taniq, Miko helped pen and produce the album “The Life & Times of Love.” An album Soultracks.com (America’s #1 Soul music website) declared as being “A modern-day masterpiece in soul music.” The album garnered many accolades including national terrestrial radio play, interviews, performances, write-ups, an initial Grammy nomination voting round entry, and Miko signing a publishing deal based off the strength of his songwriting. Miko’s songs have been licensed in major TV/Film as an artist as well as songwriter for other artists.

Interesting musical fact - his first instrument was the accordion (not by first choice). His parents couldn't afford a piano for piano lessons and accordion was the only other instrument in his school. He wanted to learn music so badly that he risked losing "cool points" to play Polkas and Waltz and became proficient in the instrument competing and winning first place trophies. He was heavily influenced by Hip Hop and Soul including his musical heroes Prince, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, and Donny Hathaway. These musical heroes were a foundation that shaped him as an artist and person of the ability that music had to unite, inspire, and entertain people.

Miko has been working on his project "The Beauty of it All" which he has written all of the songs and produced the majority.
